Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring a bathing suit?

Floating nude is the way to go. If you think you might need assistance getting in and out of the float tank then a bathing suit might be a good idea.

Is the water clean?

The Pro Float Cabin has advanced filtration systems with a 100 micron filter, UV that kills 99% of bacteria, and ozone that helps break down organic compounds and aid in their removal. There is nearly 1000 lbs of Epsom salt in the water, which makes it naturally anti-microbial. Lastly, hydrogen peroxide levels are maintained between 50 and 100 ppm to eliminate anything that may have survived all other measures.

Do I need to show up for my appointment early?

No need. We leave an extra 30 minutes between floats to allow for cleaning and filtration. Showing up on time gives us the opportunity to have the room ready for when you arrive, so you don't have to spend any time waiting around.

Can I float if I just dyed my hair?

Floating is not permitted within the first week after hair has been dyed. We don't want hair dye in the tank and you don't want to lose the colour from your hair. After a week has passed you are good to float.

How often should I float?

The most pronounced aspect of floating is the deeply relaxing experience of floating effortlessly in the dense Epsom salt water. So if relaxation is what you seek, then you should come float whenever you are seeking tranquility or stress reduction. You will come out of the tank with a feeling of calmness and lightness. You will also have what I call a stress force field, so it would be a good idea to float before a stressful upcoming event. For pain relief it is very subjective and basically you should float whenever you want to alleviate pain. The pain relieving effects last for days, weeks, or months afterwards depending on the source and severity of the pain. For rapid healing, it depends on whether you've had an injury or just want to recover faster from a workout. You want to get floating as soon as possible after an injury to give the body an optimized opportunity to heal itself before scar tissue starts to form. Floating within 24 hours of a workout will maximize your muscle repair and leave you feeling regenerated. If you're looking to enter deep meditative states, then one to four times a month and a meditation practice will profoundly change your brain and the way you think and interact in daily life. There is an accumulation effect to floating and therefore the beneficial effects will compound on top of previous floats. Personally, once a week is my sweet spot. Floating once a week on a specific day makes it a routine part of your life and you can use the power of habit to ensure that you reap the benefits on a regular basis, which will change your life for the better.
